Tweedy and the Beach...sounds like a title to a cartoon

Last Wednesday we were in the presence of greatness...WILCO. It was a great concert...minus some of the totally crazy drunks. Tweedy said we were the "highest" group he has every played for. Notice the haze...
We are all Wilco fans at our house. The other day I asked Rhett what music we should listen to and he said Jeff Tweedy (I never met another 2-year-old who requests Wilco. Maybe Laurie Berkner or Raffi...), so I put on a little Summerteeth. After a while Rhett said, "No, mommy. I wanted the one with Nels Cline...the new Wilco." The new album is the only one that Nels Cline plays in. He knows his stuff! Here is a great picture of Tweedy and Cline.
Here is a beautiful picture of Rhett at the beach over the weekend. We went to Pacific City for the weekend with some good ol' Warner friends. We stayed awake later than 10pm every night and enjoyed a ton of adult conversation. We stayed in a great house on a beautiful quiet part of the beach. I hate to say best of all, but best of all, the weather was perfect. You can't ask for anything more at the Oregon Coast. One other thing you need to know about this post...one of our friends will be referred to as J.J. Due to privacy issues he has with the internet. So, once again, look at this beautiful child...
Rhett hanging 10. April, J.J., and Brice went surfing on Friday. Rhett had fun watching this new sport called surfing.
Here Rhett is sitting at his favorite spot on the beach...the piano. You all know his incredible interest in music, but you have never seen him as obsessed as he was with the piano at the house we were staying at. We would be out on a family walk on the beach and he would say, "Will you please play piano with me?". Or we would be throwing rocks in the sand and he would say, "Will you please play piano with me?" Or we would all be enjoying our books, puzzles, and games and Rhett would ask everyone until he got a yes, "Will you please play piano with me?" The funny thing is he wouldn't play it on his own. I'm listening to him singing and playing the drum now, but at the beach he absolutely wouldn't play music on his own. As you can see in the picture he was very happy when someone said yes...
Here is the only family picture we got. It is really hard to take a picture of yourself and have everyone look normal.
The quintessential beach activity. This ice cream was almost as big as Rhett's head. Good thing he didn't mind sharing with me.
Here is the whole group. Once again, I'm not a angry middle school kid scratching out the face of the mean kid in class.
Is this what you had in mind J.J.?
Rhett fell asleep as soon as we hit the road and didn't wake up until we got home. Let me tell you, he was not happy to be home right when he woke up. He wanted to be at the beach house.

Yay for Wilco and informed children! Say, there's another album your family would probably dig; maybe you've already got it -"Not for Kids Only" by Jerry Garcia and David Grisman. It is fantastic, and I recommend not walking but running to wherever in your town might carry it.

Great beach shots too! I'm so excited about your blog and pictures that I drag my husband over to see stuff. And he secretly gets caught up in it too, or that's my interpretation of events. :)

1) Rhett's tiny Wilco shirt is so so cute.

2) It looks like you had a very fun weekend.

3) I laughed out loud when I saw the group sans "JJ" photo. Doesn't he know that there's a picture of him on our blog??
