My New Sewing Desk

Could there be a more perfect sewing desk?
It could definitely be refinished, but it looks great the way it is too. It came with the chair. I plan on putting different fabric on the seat.
It is a vanity, which gives me perfect storage for all the little things that have been hanging out on the wood stove.
Ahhhh......let's see how long it stays this neat.

Krueger Farm Concert

We love Krueger Farm! We love the dancing, we love the music, we love the picnics, and we really love the hay ride, but Mr. Krueger, what is with the incredibly long antidotes? This week we heard a little about his farming practices and his lecture turned into a LECTURE when he was talking about the kids jumping off the hay ride. I thought he may have shed a tear when he said he didn't want to see any kid getting hurt. Although he might be a little more afraid of getting sued. The last concert he went off about his berries. We learned that you should never ask a farmer if his berries are sweet...ask him if they are flavourful. Krueger Farm wouldn't be Kureger Farm without Mr. Krueger walking around with his clipboard talking every one's ear off and giving incredibly long speeches in between music sets. We love Krueger Farm!
Eating yummy cherries at the farm.
There is nothing like family time at the farm.
Here is Rhett bringing us another fist full of hay from the dance floor.
We had fun on the hay ride. You should see Rhett's face as the tractor takes off.
Future farmer Rhett...without the long speeches, hopefully.
Yes, all good things must come to an end. Rhett is not learning this too easily. Rhett could be heard all the way home crying, "I NEED to dance"!
See you next week Mr. Krueger...

A Weekend of Projects, Accomplishments, and Rhett's First Real Concert

Our great accomplishment of the weekend was getting this penny out of the garbage disposal. It was really jammed and we didn't want to have to take the disposal apart, so we have been trying to pry it out for a week. Alas...here it is.
Dan's dad came over and they cut down two trees. That crazy holly tree in the front and the huge willow tree in the back. Yay!!!!! Now we have a massive pile of trees in our front yard. Look at our huge backyard now! We can't wait to plant new grass! Here is the bamboo trellis finally done. It leans a little to the left, but hopefully it will do the trick. Our hope is that the vines will grow up and over the window.
I hope the grapes start growing...or I hope I don't kill the grapes like I killed the fennel.
I painted Rhett's room this weekend. This fabric was the inspiration for the color.
Here is Rhett at his very first big concert...The Decemberists. It is not like Rhett to fall asleep at 6:00, but there is a first time for everything.
Rhett came to life for a little bit of the concert though...

Weekend Projects

We finally finished the sandbox we have been wanting to make for over a year!
He was hoping for something he could climb into, but I think he likes it.
This is a pegboard we put together by our entryway. Now Rhett has some hooks down low where he can reach. Eat your heart out Pottery Barn! http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/w2620/index.cfm?pkey=xsrd0m1%7C16%7C%7C%7C1%7C%7C%7C%7C%7C%7C%7Cstanton&cm%5Fsrc=SCH
Wow, that's a huge address!
Here is a pegboard in the family room for Rhett's art work. Rhett is measuring it in the picture. It is "thirty-nine-nine-two"!

The Baby Doll

The evolution of the baby doll.
This doesn't include the baby doll carcases that are in the trash.
I think I have the pattern as close to perfect as it is going to get. What do you think about the face? To freckle or not to freckle? What do you think about the eye spacing? Dan just doesn't understand, I'm going for zakka cute. I know you will get it Sarah.

Watching tv with the baby dolls.
I saw a picture of my family room vision. It has the same shelves and a lamp just like ours! Now the last thing we need is that great buffet for the tv.

Last Weekend Was a Blur

Our Fourth of July weekend went by so fast! Dan took extra days off and we had a lot of great family time. A lot of it was spent in our backyard!

Awwww......

We have been doing a ton of yard work in our overgrown backyard. While digging up trees and breaking up the dirt we have found a few treasures. The toys I sort of understand, but what about that butterfly thing? That was buried deep in the dirt.
Last weekend we went to Parkdale (close to Hood River) with our friends Talia, Xander, and Elliot. We also met their friends Nikki, Mike, and Owen. We had a great time. There was lots of great food, lots of fun with the boys, and some great times outside. We even had great adult conversation while all three (yes, all three) boys took a nap after our big hike.
Here are the boys as we get ready for our hike. Imagine a weekend with three two-year-old boys...they laughed, they cried, they beat each other up.
We went on a three mile hike around Lost lake. It was a beautiful hike with a great view of the lake and Mt. Hood.
Here is a picture of the men with their giant loads.
Dan finally got his hammock set up. He was in heaven and Rhett loves it too.
What a great weekend!

Salem Fun

Last weekend we went to the World Beat in Salem with our friends Jeremy, Sarah, and Elliot. We enjoyed a ride on the carousel, some great Chinese drum riffs, yummy food, and a great time with our friends!

Rhett was very sad to leave this hat.

Rhett and Daddy taking a ride on the carousel...

and after the carousel.

For food we passed up the meat on a stick in the Asian section and the curly fries (?) in the Europe section and settled on delicious Ethiopian food.

Rhett loves his little buddy Elliot!

Rhett went on his first trip to Enchanted Forest yesterday. For those of you who have never been, Dan would like you to know, "It is better than Disneyland". We went with Dan's Dad, who is just as fond of Enchanted Forest as Dan.

Here is a picture of Rhett and Mommy on the kiddie train...

and after the train.

Here is Rhett after another ride on the "shoe slide". I'm sure there will be many more trips to Enchanted Forest!
