Knitting

I could have given him some "manly" colored yarn to use at least.

Barbeque Pizza Anyone?

Our little friend "baby" Elliot is getting to be a big boy now! Rhett and Elliot were so cute sitting at the picnic table together last weekend.
Here are all three of our guests enjoying the pizza. We had fun with you guys!
So, when I was pregnant I made a baby boy quilt and a baby girl quilt, because I didn't know what I was having and sewing helped pass the time. I figured one day I would have a daughter. Although we had hopes and dreams of Africa it wasn't a reality in 2005. I have decided to make "baby sister" her very own new quilt. One that doesn't have cute little caucasian girls all over it.
I have decided to try to sell it in my ETSY shop.

Passports and Referrals

Rhett got his passport in the mail today. Look at how cute his picture is! He looks so much younger. We got it taken in the beginning of the year. Ok "baby sister", your big brother is all ready to come get you!
There has been several referrals this week! Very exciting for all the families. To celebrate the referrals I finally started "baby sister's" quilt. Here is the center square.
I must say, if I'm this excited about all the new referrals other families are getting, just imagine my excitement when it is our turn! The clock is ticking and the wait has gone by very quick so far. I better keep working on her quilt!

"I Don't Have Bear Hands"

So, you know you are a true Oregonian when you complain about the rain and the heat! It has been in the nineties these last few days. We definitely have made the best of it, but we are ready for the rain to come back, so we can complain about it again.
This post may be a picture overload, but there are too many good ones not to share.

Crepes outside! I love having breakfast out in the sunshine. It may be one of my favorite things.
I officially have a garden. The first thing in the ground are pumpkins. Rhett helped me plant these inside and it has been really exciting to watch them grow.
We went to the Alberta Art Hop. It was only a little hot.(!) At these awesome Portland street fairs there is usually a great kids area for kids to get their float (bike) ready for the parade, blow bubbles, play in water, and this year paint bird houses and picture frames. The great part of this was that the proceeds from the bird houses and frames went to a boy's family in Ethiopia. He was adopted two years ago and he has already bought his family a house in Ethiopia. I don't know the details of his situation, but we were very excited to help out.
Rhett had a lot of fun at Wade's birthday party. You can't see them in this picture, but Monica made all the kids awesome kitty ears. Do you like Rhett's abstract face painting?
We went on a hike to the Audubon Society trails.
Rhett did an amazing job hiking today. He liked being the leader. Dan said, "Rhett, you are our fearless leader. If a bear comes out you could wrestle him with your bare hands". Rhett said, "Daddy, I don't have bear hands".
Picnic dinner at the Pittock Mansion.
It was a good weekend!

I've Been Published!

So, about two years ago Therese Laskey found me at Mahar Drygoods and wanted to include me in her next softies book. I was really excited. This afternoon when I came home I had this in the mail...very exciting! In this book, The Softies Kit, there are directions on how to make 15 softies and my banner is one of them! My name and ETSY address is even printed in there.
On Mother's Day we had fun going through some of my Grandparents boxes of scrapbooks and photos. You can imagine my glee when I found a scrapbook of vintage greeting cards and Valentines. Here are some of the great treasures!
I especially liked these knitting valentine's. Actually, all the Valentines were pretty great. Who knew that choosing a preschool was going to be sooooooooo hard. There are so many factors that go into choosing the perfect preschool. We are sending Rhett to a co-op preschool next school year. First of all, we didn't know it was going to be so "cut throat" just to get into preschool and now we need to make up our mind quick. Today Rhett got to be a preschooler for a day at Irvington Co-Op.

*EDITED* For All You "Non-Moms" Out There

Nominate your favorite mom or "non-mom"...
A little insulting, isn't it?

*Thanks to many complaints the section "non-mom" has now been changed to the adopting mom.

The Ladies

We had our first felt food exchange with my craft ladies this week. It was so fun to be the recipient of such cute felt food for Rhett! I made the deep fried goodness...donuts.

Look at all the other cute food! Thanks ladies!
Rhett calls my craft friends "the ladies."

I know I said I wanted summer to come, but I want winter to come soon also, so Rhett can wear this cute jacket I made before he grows out of it!

Pray for some referrals to start coming in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our Zoo Trip in Pictures

Yeah, for sunshine! We took a family trip to the Zoo last weekend.
What a good looking REI family we are! Do we look like Oregonians, or what?

Rhett was loving the goats! You should see how he "takes care" of living beings. The other day he was "taking care" of a tiny worm for half an hour. He took it down the slide, dribbled water from his cup when he thought it was getting too dry, and spoke to it with such a sweet voice. He needs a sibling!!!!
Just look at that face... the joy of a three year old on the Zoo train.
Training wheels or not training wheels? We are taking a little advice from the Moores and from the Europeans on two-wheel training. Rhett feels like a big boy on his two-wheeler. We aren't getting anywhere very fast yet.
