New Design

Another treasure from the lucky Goodwill trip. Rhett loves his "record player."

With all my orders done for the moment I was able to work on this new design of banner. What are some thoughts? This banner is headed to my Etsy shop.

Antique Road Show Here We Come

I love thrifting. All of Rhett's clothes and most of his toys were found at Goodwill or resale stores. Yesterday at Goodwill we found lots of great treasures. A couple of vintage Fisher Price toys, some Hana Anderson clothes for Rhett and "baby sister", and a new print for our house. I found this print in the yellow bin before it was even on the shelf. I really liked it in the store and even payed $20 for it! A fortune for Goodwill! When I got it home I had serious buyers remorse for the rest of the day. I was worried about what Dan would say. I was right, Dan said it was too dark...I agreed. There is a signature on the print, so I thought I would find out who the artist was. His name is Eyvind Earle. He was once an illustrator for Disney. He did a lot of the illustration for Sleeping Beauty. We found out that a signed Eyvind Earle print is selling for $1,500-$9,000! What! We found the print online...check it out! The print is in really good shape and there is a special stamp on the back that authenticates it. Dan likes the print now.

Mostly Likely To Be A Class Clown

I had a proud moment yesterday. When Dan got in the car to go to Krueger's he said, "My eyes are looking a little red today." Rhett said, "That's ok Daddy, everyone is different." This is something we say almost daily in response to some if his "whys" about some of the people he sees. Everyone is different, and Rhett notices these differences and respects the differences in the world. I'm proud of my boy. Sure, he thought Dan's eyes were literally bright red, but I think he gets the idea.

What is going on in the referral world? NO, really, I want to know. There have been no referrals for about three weeks. My August estimate is turning into September. Knowing that it is going to happen...one of these days...makes the wait doable though.

In Case You Were Curious...

...bath bubbles taste like sunflower stems and green beans in panang curry taste like dandelion stems.
Here is Rhett doing his patented "thumbs up-thumbs down" dance.
Yes, that is almost half of The Decemberists performing at Krueger's Farm last week with Ashleigh Flynn. That is Chris Funk and as I like to call her, "my friend Jenny."

Our Very Own Log Boy

In case you need a reminder...The Log Lady.
I finished Twin Peaks. The ending was disturbing yet satisfying for me. I don't know why so many people complain about the ending.

Weekend Update

We had a really busy and exciting weekend. We explored nature on our hike to Mirror Lake, we picnicked almost every meal, we did a lot of dancing to some of our favorite music, and we had a lot of great family time.
Here are some of the highlights...exploring nature.
Rhett did great on the 1.5 miles up to Mirror Lake, but he cried and disturbed the peace all the way down. Maybe he isn't ready for a "big boy" hike yet. All the way up he kept repeating, "This is really fun." We also learned that he loves to go pee out in nature. He went pee probably 10 times on our way up. I'm fighting the urge to post a great pee picture I took. I guess I'll save that one for his future wife to see.
Here is Rhett pretending to fish at the lake.
We found this really cool centipede/millipede (?) on our hike.
Notice the water, mud, and snow all in the same place. Rhett's heaven. I'm also fighting the urge to post what Rhett looked like after he fell in the lake and was doing a naky dance by the lake.
We soaked up some sun and ate lots of raspberries at Krueger's Farm.
We had lots of picnics last weekend. There was a picnic at mirror lake.
A picnic at Krueger's Farm after some berry picking.
A picnic at Edgefield during the Professor Banjo concert.
There was a picnic even where we weren't allowed to picnic.
We danced and listened to some fun music. We love Sasparilla! We will be seeing more of them this summer.
We also did some dancing with Professor Banjo at his cd release concert.
We had lots of great family time. Here are Dan and Rhett at Mirror Lake.
Rhett and I at the Professor Banjo concert.

Krueger Farm Summer Tradition

We are carrying on our Summer tradition at the Krueger Farm concerts. We had a picnic, danced, went on a hayride, and ate the berries right off the bush. Here is my favorite picnic angle.
We met some friends from law school and their two adorable girls. Kaitlyn looked especially cute eating the corn.
I love this picture. Rhett is showing off his dancing skills and as you can see Kaitlyn is very impressed.
Eating blueberries off the bush. Rhett had about 500 blueberries. So did I.
On our way home. A half moon walk into the sunset.
Time to work your magic and pray for some more referrals.

Obama the Prisoner

We were watching morning news when Rhett heard them talking about Obama. His head perked up and said, "He is our president." I said, "We hope he will be our president." Then he said, "Presidents get locked up." I was very confused. I asked him a couple of questions about what he meant. Than I realized he was referring to the other day when I told him he was my prisoner (I trapped him for hugs and kisses). He was confusing the word prisoner with president. I quickly cleared this confusion up.
Here are a couple of "accidental" shots. I just aim and shoot and hope to capture a moment. We were at the Rose Garden and Rhett was smelling almost every rose he passed. His sniff lasted about half a second, so I was just clicking really fast. I'm happy about that first picture. The second one I had the aim all wrong, but I think it is sort of cute.
Nina, he wears this shirt alllllll the time. It is my favorite!

Pumpkins

Rhett: "When are we getting our baby?"
Mommy: "After our pumpkins get really big and we eat the seeds." (I hope)

My Boy and His Parade

We had a fun time with friends the other day. The kids ended up starting a parade...cute stuff.
FYI: I'm pretty sure Dot wasn't in the lead, but trailing behind. By the way, she is the cutest little girl ever!

Knitting Project #3

I finished my third knitting project last night. I'm a little proud. I know, a little selfish to make a sweater for myself, but the next one will be for Rhett. I already have the yarn and pattern!
Yes, I plan on numbering all of my knitting projects.

The Fourth...Lapour Style

Uncle Ryan and (future) Aunt Anne came into town for the fourth!!!!!!! Actually they moved to Eugene. Rhett loves his Uncle Ryan and Aunt Anne! He loved reading Dear Zoo to them before nap and bed time. Ryan and Anne loved it too. We cannot wait for the wedding in September and we really can't wait for some cousins! Get a move on it guys! I get a little jealous when I see this fun!
For dinner on the Fourth we went to Hopworks Urban Brewery. The new hot brewery in town. Awesome! 100% kid friendly, award winning organic beer, and amazing pizza.
The best barbecue pizza ever! Nothing could be bad with bacon and barbecue sauce.
The Beer Brothers.
We mooched fireworks off the neighbors again this year. I personally have a hard time spending a lot of money on something that is loud, annoying, starts fires, keeps me awake at night, and emulates bombs bursting in air. I know, I'm a Fourth of July scrooge. I do like to see Rhett's face lit up with excitement though.

Now That You Know, What Will You Do?

I've known for several weeks and I think about it several times a day. Ethiopia is starving. Mothers and Fathers who cannot feed their own children. I couldn't imagine the pain of watching your own child melt away and the suffering of the children is more than I can take. And here we are complaining about the price of gas. This story will break your heart...Ethiopia food crisis. If you want to help have a look here.
Thanks to other bloggers for these links and others.

Sweet Dreams

Last night when I was standing at the door saying good-night to Rhett he said, "I'm going to dream of my baby sister". He got an extra hug and kiss for that one.

Here we are on our first Fourth of July as a family of three when Rhett was just five months.
