A February Sweater in September

Remember this sweater? Well, I finished it and I love it. It made me feel so good to put it on. I love the finished product of knitting for myself, but I did get burnt out once I got to the sleeves. Ugh...sleeves. Next time I may be knitting a vest for myself or Dan. He did point out this post and request a knit sweater. I told him I won't be knitting a sweater for him any time soon, but maybe a vest...
Today is Dan's birthday! Happy 32nd Dan. As Rhett said today, "It's OK Daddy, 30's are the new 20's." Phew...

Our Week in a Nutshell

Here are a few pictures that sums up our life over the last week....
Mezmur and I at the Alberta Street Fair. Fun was had by all. Mezmur is having me blow her a kiss with her own hand.
Organic cotton candy. It's OK, becuase it is organic...right?
Following around this kid everywhere, because God forbid we have to pick her up or tell her she has to go a different way...yikes.
Fun times at a great friend's birthday party! Here is Rhett ready to launch his water rocket. He was the only one in costume and he didn't even mind. Way to not conform, Rhett!
Dolls, dolls, dolls, for three very special babies!
Off to the Zoo before the rain and cold comes and Mama never wants to go outside...
Mezmur is always the center of attention at meal time...I wonder why.
Preschool! Oh, how we love preschool. I don't ever want it to end!
Napkin tutorial coming up on your friendly neighborhood Bolt blog...
That was our BUSY week. Now, on to another busy weekend and busy week!

A VooDoo Doughnut First

Rhett was in doughnut heaven when we finally made our first trip to VooDoo Doughnuts last Friday. VooDoo is a Portland landmark famous for their bacon and maple doughnut, Nyquil glazed and Pepto-Bismol doughnut, and the Cap'n Crunch.
He really wanted the "letter T." doughnut, but he settled on the Double Bubble. Maybe you can figure out what the "letter T." doughnut was and why we didn't let him get it...
We got Rhett all hyped up on sugar and pin-ball then...
...we dropped him off at preschool.

Mezmur's Hair...AKA...5 Minutes of Torture

"Did you just say It's time to do my hair?"
"Stop touching my head!"
"Are you done yet!"
"Yay! You are done!"
Shiny McShine in all her glory.
Here is her hair a few hours later...nice curls without the shine.
What did I do to her hair? First, combed it out, got it wet, rubbed some Taliah Waajid Lock it Up on my hands and patted her hair with it, then I combed out a nice section for a pony...and there you have it...5 minutes of torture for Mezmur, but she sure looks cute.

Trip to the Beach

We finally made it to the beach this summer. It was a PERFECT Oregon beach day. The weather was beautiful.

This was crazy. The tide came in by 20 feet in one wave. Look at where I'm sitting in the earlier photo and look at where the water is. That is how far the tide came in. I was sitting there watching it come in thinking, "It has to stop." It didn't. I'm sorry to say, instinctively I grabbed the camera case before Mezmur! Don't worry Mezmur didn't get washed away...she didn't even get wet. I guess I knew that Mezmur would have been fine if she had gotten a little wet, but not the cameras. I guess the tide was being highly unusual this weekend. Crazy.
The destruction...

Enat

This is my new necklace that Dan got me for our anniversary. I ordered it here.
This is just one small way I plan to honor Mezmur's Enat.
Mezmur's Enat (mother) gave us the biggest gift. It makes me so sad that she will never know how happy and healthy her baby girl is today. I think about Mezmur's Enat EVERYDAY. All I know that is true is that Mezmur's Enat carried her for nine months, kept her healthy for all nine months, and gave birth to her. For this...I love her and think about her everyday. I don't know if she cared for her for those two "lost" months or if it was her Abat (father). Maybe an Aunt or Uncle. I strive everyday to honor Mezmur's Enat. Mezmur will never be able to see the face of the woman who birthed her. This breaks my heart. I will do every thing I can to ease the pain Mezmur will have that she will not know the woman who birthed her. Mezmur's Enat is loved and will be honored by all in our family.

A New Hobby?

Just beautiful...but I don't need another hobby.
These Charley Harper needlepoint canvases are beautiful. Go look at them. I would love to spend hours on a needlepoint work of art like this, but my unfinished sweater and piles of sewing tells me NO.

I'm a Proud Mama

Kruger Farm Corn Maze Preview...Not a Concert

Poor Farmer Don. He is dealing with a bad neighbor situation. His neighbor called his farm a "cancer" and turned him in. You can read more about it here. So, Farmer Don is changing things up a bit...last night we went to the corn maze preview party.
Oh, and we thought we had a bad neighbor situation...some of you know what I'm talking about...ugh.

Planning our next move...
