We have been married for almost 10 years and we have never owned furniture for our room.
We finally have a "real" bedroom!
So, that is the dresser and mirror that we got at that really awesome Estate sale. When I saw this dresser I HAD to have it! It was the dresser I pictured for our room. I took the tag off of it so fast. I was a crazy Estate sale lady that day. There was a couple talking about the dresser and debating the purchase of it, but if you snooze you loose at Estate sales...sorry. I took that tag out from under their nose so fast. This was in the master bedroom. The bed had already sold. I was bummed, but happy to get the dresser of my dreams for a great price.

A couple of days later I checked
Craigslist for a bed. I was looking for the bed from the sale. I just knew a dealer had snatched it up. The first bed I looked at was "our" bed. I just knew it was the bed from the sale. I went and looked at it at a vintage shop on Hawthorne. It was the match! the color was the same, the trim was the same, and there were other things from the sale there. Sure, it was probably double in price, but to have the bed and dresser reunited again...priceless.

I was so happy we not only got a matching bed, but we got THE bed from the sale! I was so happy to keep the set together...I bet the original owner would be pleased.
Here is the headboard...

The lamp? Well, I bought it at Value Village about 3 years ago. It has been in our garage all this time. I have almost gotten rid of it many times, but I thought...one day I'll have the perfect spot for it.

Oh, there are big plans for the rest of our room. Such as...
THIS QUILT! I can't wait to get started on it! It may take me 10 more years just to finish the quilt, but it will be worth it.

This is such a cool story. Awesome. And some day girl, some day we are coming out there to see that stuff, and you guys too.
LOVE IT ALL!! And is that one of the black chairs you were telling me about next to your dresser? I worship it.

LOVE it. AND, I LOVE that quilt pattern...you will make it, and it will be fantastic...I can see it now!
All meant to be. . . "crazy estate sale lady" and all. . . Looks nice. I like the banjo in the corner or "on my knee". I hope Dan has time to play it. Have a great week. Love ME
NICE!!! sweet place to snuggle ;) we too have yet to have a real bedroom...one day. hope to score some raddness like you:)
Isn't that the best feeling? Do you just get a little twinge of giddy happiness every single time you walk into your room now? And do you find yourself making extra trips to your room that you normally wouldn't, just so you can look at it?
Sounds like a good weekend. :)
Ah, serendipity. I love it. And, I love the spare, modern feel of your new room. It looks so serene. And, you deserve some serenity at the end of the day!
By the way, I know the feeling. We finally got a bed and night tables and real lamps about six years ago...and we felt like such grownups!
Congrats! I LOVE the furniture. And I love that it has such a good story to go with it.
Holy cow. I think that stuff matches the furniture in our bedroom (almost the exact same color and style). We have two dressers that used to belong to my husband's parents. THey must be from the 1960s. If you lived in New Jersey I would totally give them to you.
