An Afternoon Knitting Date

Our knitting dates are short, but very sweet. Rhett came to me today and said, "Mommy, let's have a knitting date." Rhett is still working on the scarf for Mezmur.

I'm working on a little something for the husband. Well, sort of a big something that will probably take me a year and a half to make...isn't he a lucky man?

Lost is Over and All I Have to Show For it is This Hat

Last night was the end of an era...the Lost finale (I was going to add a link, but if you don't know what Lost is than you have been under a rock.). This isn't a Lost post, but it was a nice, feel good ending, but questions remain.
Did you watch all 4 and a half hours of the Lost finale, you ask? Yes, I did, but I was busy during the commercials to help keep me awake past my bedtime. I was busy sewing Mezmur a summer hat.
It wasn't really the hat pattern I was after, but it was cute. I used this free tutorial.
I used some cute Japanese fabric I had lying around. Yes, I have an obscene amount of fabric just lying around.
I think she likes her new hat.
I'm going to miss you my friends...good-bye Sawyer, Kate, Jack, John, Ben, Hurley, Jin, Sayid...I will see you all when I have Lost withdrawals and need to start the series all over again.

Alberta Art Hop: A Follow Up

Here is the long overdue post about the Art Hop! When people ask, "How was the Art Hop?" I say, "I had so much fun." It was fun. I loved hanging out with my dolls, the lovely ladies who shared the space and the space next to us, I found new art and new artists, and the people watching was in it's prime.
I sold two dolls to the parents of two lovely and adorable little girls. You know who you are...and thank you so much for your support. It means so much to me!
One mom almost bought a birthday banner, but her 4-year-old thought it was just too "weird" for him. Now I know what 4-year-olds really think of the banners...thanks, kid.
One of the all-time highlights of the show? Watching the kids walk up to the dolls and just stare at them with the sweetest of smiles. I wished I could give every child a doll to take home who did that.
Here is my friend's jewelry who I shared a space with. Her jewelry sold like hotcakes! Beautiful things!
It was so much fun to see all of you who stopped by for a visit. It made my day for you all to go out of your way to come say hi.
Oh, the people of the Alberta Art Hop...how I love you. You gave me hours of entertainment.
There was this guy...
...and this guy.
While I was packing up at the end of the show Rhett wanted to whisper something in my ear. He asked, "Am I too young to sell things at the Art Hop?" I said, "No, way!" So, he has started a collection of art. I believe this one goes for .33 cents.
My new favorite artist who I met at the Art Hop...Renee Hartig. She is young, sweet, and peppy. Her landscape art is amazing. I bought a small original painting on paper...I love it. I look forward to buying one of her larger masterpieces on canvas. If you go to any of the shows around town...look for her. Amazing work.

House of Hope Reunion

We got to spend some time with our friend Adi and new friend Jay last weekend. Mezmur was with these boys at the same time in the orphanage. We are so lucky to live so close to Adi and his family and it was so much fun to visit with Jay and his family while they visited Portland. Some fun times included...water play,
starting a band,
"pizzie",
naked drummer boy,
a group hug good-bye,
and not to be forgotten...adult drinks and great conversation.
Doesn't it look like they could be triplets?

Ready For the Hop

Here are some of the photos I wanted to post earlier! Stop by tomorrow and say hi!
Dolls ready to go.
I didn't order my cards in time, so I made some. Well, Dan needs to finish stamping them...obviously I can't stamp.
Birthday banners are ready.
Price tags.

Alberta Art Hop

I took some great photos (that didn't include the red fabric I'm a little sick of) of all my preparations for the Art Hop tomorrow, but my computer decided to freak out. So, I'll leave you with this photo that I plan on putting on display at the Hop.
If you want to hang out on a really great street, see some crafty booths, eat organic cotton candy, and like sunshine, then stop by our booth between the hours of 11 and 6. We will be between 24th and 25th on the South side of NE Alberta. Come say hi!

EOR Auction Results

The Ethiopian Orphan Relief auction was a raging success. Check out their blog for the results! Amazing. It was so much fun to be surrounded by people who have adopted from Ethiopia, are in process, plan on adopting from Ethiopia, and who know someone who has adopted from Ethiopia.
At each table setting was a "toothbrush" made by two little boys in Ethiopia. The story of how 200 of these "toothbrushes" were "ordered" is such a cute story. I loved bringing home a purse full of these sticks for Rhett. Of coarse, he was intrigued and proceeded to chew on this stick and "brush" his teeth the rest of the day.
He declares this as his "morning toothbrush."
I look forward to next years auction!
May I add...the dolls and gift certificates for dolls I contributed to the auction went for such a high amount it made me blush.

Because I Couldn't Choose Just One

Beautiful weekend...beautiful daughter...

"Mezmur, you can't ride your bike without your helmet."
"Fine!"
"I'm not doing this because you told me to...
...I just want to protect my beautiful head."
"Bye."
Mezmur likes to keep up her tough girl attitude with her hands in her pockets...she looks tough, doesn't she?
If only they made tights with pockets.

Easter Egg Hunt...a little late.

I just found this photo and I love it. I especially love the snot running down her face. Why are people who don't have kids so disturbed by a kid with snot? Don't they know that we have no control over the snot and what's the point in wiping that soft sensitive nose every two seconds when the snot will just start dripping again?
Awww...Mezmur...again with THE look.
A few things for us to remember about Mezmur...She answers when someone asks her name. She says, "Memer." Mezmur can identify several letters...I'm a proud Mama.
