When I read on a blog about the need for sanitary pads in Ethiopia I was inspired and a passion grew. I knew about the need. We brought several boxes to Ethiopia when we went last year, but I never even thought about reusable sanitary pads for Ethiopia. Once the idea was planted my head began spinning with ideas and plans.
The first plan was to help this blogger (and beyond) with the goal they had. 
I put the word out and a group of women was assembled to help me with this quick deadline.
Thanks to all the help we made way more than I anticipated. 
We were very lucky to be able to work at Modern Domestic. I'm a little spoiled by that place. Thanks to the ladies at Modern Domestic who were very generous to donate the space for this project.
My future with this project...I'm going to take it slow and see where it leads me. My next goal is to gather as many as I can to send with a friend when she travels at the end of the year to pick up her daughter. YES!!!! I was so sad when goods for girls folded because I am so passionate about cloth pads and wasn't sure how to connect with women in country. (we have yet to travel) I'm also super keen to do a cloth diaper project as well.

I am going to give this a try when school lets out for the summer. I hate to say this but I have a Bernina gathering dust in my closet (hem hem). I used to use it a lot but then life got crazy. Maybe this is a simple project I can use to keep in sewing shape.

The sanitary pads are great! Can you link me with the woman Emma spoke of who has the pattern? We work with 4,500 high school girls in rural Ethiopia and the need for sanitary napkins is great so that these girls do not miss school 4 or 5 days every month.
With the pattern we will hire Ethiopian tailors to make them and help the rural economy as well.
