A Final Getaway Before Tiny Lapour Gets Here

Thanks to my mom and Groupon, Dan and I were able to have a luxury getaway last weekend. It was 23 hours full of eating, sleeping, driving, and talking...yes, talking has been a luxury that we have missed. We stayed at the Columbia Gorge Hotel. It was a beautiful hotel and full of history.

It was a nice time away. Just long enough for us to start missing our kids and realize that our life would be so boring if we didn't have kids. There is only so much eating, resting, and drinking beer you can do before you realize that without kids...that is all there really is and doing that all day would get old. Don't get me wrong, we enjoyed every second of our time away. My favorite was sitting in the window at the coffee shop in the sun. We ate our breakfast and drank our coffee and we didn't want to leave. We soaked up the sun, people watched, talked, and just enjoyed a quiet moment...without the kids.

It looks absolutely lovely. Is it just me or did your belly drop a bit?

Oh, that looks so fun! I am the same as you...I would be missing my kids bad before the 24 hour mark.

My hometown! I didn't realize the hotel was open again - glad to see it. It is a beautiful place. I love Hood River - such a great town to relax and shop and drink beer or coffee in little joints.

I forgot to ask how this trip went the last time we talked. I guess I talked to Mezmur longer than I talked to you (she is a kick on the phone). It looked like it was a beautiful stay. I was trying to figure out where the waterfall shot was taken and if Dan had to carry you there to get the shot. . .

Happy Birthday!! Love Dad
