Mavis' Party

Below are the photos from the party.  We rented the Concordia Community room at Kennedy School.  We are in the neighborhood, so the room is crazy cheap and it was so worth it!  As a matter of fact...all of our parties may be there from now on.  This photo of Mavis and I is one of my favorites of the day.  I love her expression...

A party at Kennedy School wouldn't have been a party without tots and beer.  Here, Mavis' cousin Lucy is trying to snag a tot.
This is Joe the balloon guy.  Actually, he is much more than a balloon guy...he was the one who kept the kids entertained the whole party with balloons, juggling, and other crazy antics.  I mean...he juggled fire...best balloon guy ever.
His balloons are elaborate and creative...best ever.
When I say he "entertained the kids"...by kids, I mean everyone.  He was hilarious.
If you ever find the need to hire a balloon man or someone to entertain a gaggle of kids while the adults enjoy some beer and adult conversation...CALL JOE!

Here is Mavis taking a little break from the party for a little milk before her cake.
 Uncle Aris.

Don't let the following photos fool you...I don't think she ate any of the cake.  She licked the frosting off her little toy that was on the cake, but that's it.
 Peek-a
 Boo!

Oh, and if I haven't said it already...photos are by the very talented Posy Quarterman.

For my two loyal readers...I'll answer all your sewing and knitting questions soon.  I have a lot to share.  I've been busy sewing lots of personal projects between banner orders and rooster costumes for Rhett's school.

Mavis' Pre-Party Photo Session With Posy

Let me introduce to you...the magic of Posy Quarterman.  Below, are some favorites from the pre-party session.  You know, the rushed session, because Mezmur locked us out and we didn't have that much time before we had to rush to Kennedy School to decorate for the party.  Can you tell I was on the verge of tears and a mini breakdown right before these photos were taken?  Posy went above and beyond that day.  She was flexible when I called her last minute to meet us at our house, she kept me calm, and gave us a ride to Kennedy School after we loaded her car full of kids and party decorations...oh, and a highchair.  We were so glad Posy was there with us on that very special day.  The day our last baby turned one.  Thank you Posy!  Next to come...party photos and Joe the balloon guy!

Vote For Aris And Meredith!

My brother is getting married this September and we couldn't be more excited.  Excited about the wedding and getting to make cute little girl dresses for it and excited about who he is marrying!  We all LOVE Meredith.  She is a great Aunt to the kids already...they LOVE her.  This is the only photo I knew we had of Meredith...post Thanksgiving dinner.
Meredith enters herself and Aris in contests...in the hopes of winning something they need or want and in doing this they have won a lot of little things and their engagement photo session and now they are one of four finalists in a new contest.  To win a honeymoon to Mexico along with other big winnings...like jewelry.  There is only one more week to go and they are in the lead!
Even though they are in the lead...Meredith worries that the other couples will get a lot of votes in the end.  You know...EBAY style.  Here is how you can help a worried future bride and my brother have an awesome honeymoon.  Go vote for Aris and Meredith HERE.  First you have to "like" The White List.  I know it's annoying to get posts from weird facebook companies, but it's easy to "unlike"...then vote for Aris and Meredith.  EASY!  Meredith and Aris THANK YOU!

Keeping It Real

I call this photo, "holy shit," because that's what I thought when I got out of the shower and saw Dan standing in the middle of the family room drinking his morning coffee...in the middle of this...Yowza.

Culprit #1...Mavis. Here she is taking all the clean clothes off the chair and throwing it onto the ground. It NEVER ends here. Dan and I are constantly reminded of a class we took in undergrad. Professor Michael said, if you have kids...you just have to learn how to be ok with a messy house. It's true, but this scene drives me crazy. I ask Dan, "Isn't it so nice when the house is clean?" He says, "If the house was clean all the time we wouldn't appreciate it as much." Sad, but true. So, this is how we will live...until the kids move out...I guess.

Culprit #2 is Rhett. He was inspired by cute Caine of Caine's Arcade to create his own arcade game. Resulting in the recycling once in the recycling bin being taken out and spread all over the room to create this can basketball game. If you haven't watched that video of Caine...you should...so sweet.

It really inspired Rhett. So much that he had a "stomach ache" at school today and had to come home early...hummm.

I'm off to clean the house now. Don't feel too bad for me...the house cleaner comes tomorrow.

Photo Heavy Easter

Easter 2012.

Yes, we are the parents taking photos of their crying baby in the park.

Rhett's Easter basket.

This was in Mezmur's Easter basket this year. She loves it!
We got to have a lovely brunch with our favorite family friends.
There was some great food, good conversation,...
...and another Easter egg hunt. Here is my competitive boy running to the next egg.
And here is my pouty girl who doesn't like to see Rhett finding eggs.
This girl discovered jelly beans. Funny how Rhett didn't have his first piece of candy until he was three and now, Mavis eats jelly beans.
What a photo op! This is the first dress I made Mavis for her birthday. I love it and it was perfect for Easter.
Oh, Mavis. One day you will be ok with other people and you will love Hannah the way your brother and sister love Hannah (and Elyse and Callie!).
I love these girls...
One more Easter egg hunt at Nana's house, one more competitive boy, and one more pouty girl.
The best gift for Easter was a sunny, warm, beautiful day. We were blessed with a beautiful Easter weekend and trust me...we needed it.
